La peinture de Taeho Choi est aussi dense et foisonnante que les sentiments qui le traversent. Un pied dans la peinture figurative, il s'en extirpe allègrement en donnant naissance aux formes hybrides qui se bousculent sur ses toiles; les couleurs lumineuses qui jaillissent de ses noirs profonds viennent spontanément bousculer notre perception du beau et du repoussant, du gai et du sombre, de l'intime et du collectif.
Né à Séoul en 1988, Taeho Choi porte en lui la cicatrice vivace du 38 parallèle, qui écartèle les deux Corées, renforcée par l'exil qu'il a choisi se vivre en France depuis une dizaine d'année; c'est sans doute une des raisons qui explique l'infinitude systématique des corps et figures représentées, en pleine métamorphose. Associés à une multitude de symboles, d'objets et d'éléments végétaux témoignant de la puissance de l'imaginaire, ils participent d'un univers unique et furieusement addictif.

Taeho Choi's painting is as dense and abundant as the feelings that run through it. With one foot in figurative painting, he cheerfully extricates himself from it, giving birth to the hybrid forms that crowd his canvases; the luminous colors that spring from his deep blacks spontaneously shake up our perception of the beautiful and the repulsive, the cheerful and the dark, the intimate and the collective. Born in Seoul in 1988, Taeho Choi carries with him the living scar of the 38 parallel, which separates the two Koreas, reinforced by the exile he has chosen to live in France for the last ten years. This is undoubtedly one of the reasons that explains the systematic infinity of the bodies and figures represented, in full metamorphosis. Combined with a multitude of symbols, objects and plant elements that testify to the power of the imagination, they form a unique and furiously addictive universe.
