Sasha Brodsky est né en 1995 à Moscou. Il vit et travaille à NYC depuis ses études à la School of Visual Arts (2014-2018).
Dans tous les travaux de Brodsky, les paysages sont très inspirés de ses observations de NYC et Brooklyn en particulier, sans pour autant décrire des endroits précis. Dans l’ultra mobilité et l’impermanence des grandes villes, l’artiste recherche les caractéristiques immuables qui composent l’essence d’une ville ou d’un quartier. Les personnages de Brodsky, souvent solitaires, sont inséparables des architectures qui les entourent.
L’originalité de sa technique réside dans l’équilibre entre l’approche graphique de l’espace, influencée par la gravure qu’il a beaucoup pratiquée, et le travail de peinture et pastel, qui apporte transparence et instabilité afin de créer des atmosphères très identifiables, à mi-chemin entre la mélancolie slave et l’agitation New-yorkaise.

Sasha Brodsky was born in 1995 in Moscow. He has been living and working in NYC since his studies at the School of Visual Arts (2014-2018).
In all of Brodsky's work, the landscapes are very much inspired by his observations of NYC and Brooklyn in particular, without describing specific locations. In the mobility and impermanence of big cities, the artist looks for the unchanging characteristics that make the essence of a city or a neighborhood. Brodsky's characters, often solitary, are inseparable from the architecture that surrounds them. 
The originality of his technique lies in the balance between the graphic approach to space, influenced by the engraving that he has practiced a lot, and the work of painting and pastel, which transparency and instability to create very identifiable atmospheres, halfway between Slavic melancholy between Slavic melancholy and New York agitation.

Sasha Brodsky est né en 1995 à Moscou. Après son diplôme à la School of Visual Arts de New York en 2018, il est resté dans la ville qui nourrit sa pratique. 
Dans tous les travaux de Brodsky, les paysages sont très inspirés de ses observations de NYC et Brooklyn en particulier, sans pour autant décrire des endroits précis. Dans l’ultra mobilité et l’impermanence des grandes ville, l’artiste est en quête des caractéristiques immuables qui composent l’essence d’une ville ou d’un quartier. Ses habitants solitaires sont dispersés autour de terrains vagues et de chantiers de construction abandonnés, au milieu de ferraille et d’autres artefacts symboles de la décomposition métropolitaine. La relation entre ces personnages et leur environnement est cruciale - les personnages de Brodsky sont inséparables des architectures qui les entourent. L’originalité de sa technique réside dans l’équilibre entre l’approche graphique de l’espace, très influencé par la gravure qu’il a beaucoup pratiquée, et le travail de peinture et pastel, qui apporte transparence et instabilité afin de créer des atmosphères très identifiables, à mi-chemin entre la mélancolie slave et l’agitation New-yorkaise.

Sasha Brodsky was born in 1995 in Moscow. After graduating from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2018, he has remained in the city that fuels his practice. 
In all of Brodsky's work, the landscapes are very much inspired by his observations of NYC and Brooklyn in particular, without describing specific locations. In the ultra-mobility and impermanence of the big city, the artist is in search of the unchanging characteristics that make up the essence of a city or neighborhood. Its solitary inhabitants are scattered around vacant lots and abandoned construction sites, amid scrap metal and other artifacts symbolic of metropolitan decay. The relationship between these characters and their environment is crucial - Brodsky's characters are inseparable from the architectures that surround them.
The originality of his technique lies in the balance between the graphic approach to space, heavily influenced by the printmaking he has practiced extensively, and the paint and pastel work, which brings transparency and instability in order to create highly identifiable atmospheres, halfway between Slavic melancholy and New York restlessness.
