Née à Wuhan (Chine), Hualing Xu vit et travaille à Paris. Après son diplôme des Beaux-Arts de Hubei en Chine, elle a poursuivi ses études aux Beaux-Arts de Brest puis de Bourges. Sur toile et plus récemment sur papier, elle s’intéresse à l’enfance et la nature, sujets qui reviennent régulièrement dans son oeuvre, tantôt fantastique, tantôt intime; ayant grandi près des lacs de Wuhan, l’eau est par exemple un élément central de son travail. Les scènes de la vie quotidienne qu’elle dépeint, en apparence anodines et heureuses, portent en elle tout le mystère de la psychologie de l’enfance.
Dans ses oeuvres récentes, Hua Ling Xu, nous invite à franchir un seuil : celui qui mène du monde tangible à une réalité intérieure, profonde et intime. Nous assistons à cet instant suspendu où un détail, une parole, une émotion, ravive un souvenir enfoui ou un rêve ardent qui nous cueille et nous bouleverse. Chaque œuvre est un passage pour qui accepte de chavirer, de plonger dans les zones floues de l’âme, là où résident nos plus grandes fragilités – mais aussi nos vérités les plus profondes. Une sorte de voyage initiatique où la lumière dessine des trajectoires inattendues.

Born in Wuhan (China), Hualing Xu lives and works in Paris. After graduating from the Hubei Fine Arts School in China, she went on to study at the Beaux-Arts in Brest and then Bourges. On canvas, and more recently on paper, she is interested in childhood and nature, subjects that recur regularly in her work, which is sometimes fantastic, sometimes intimate; having grown up near the lakes of Wuhan, water, for example, is a central element in her work. The scenes of everyday life that she depicts, seemingly harmless and happy, carry within them all the mystery of childhood psychology.
In her most recent work, Hua Ling Xu invites us to cross a threshold: the one that leads from the tangible world to a deep, intimate inner reality. We witness that suspended moment when a detail, a word or an emotion, revives a buried memory or an ardent dream that captivates and overwhelms us. Each work is a passageway for those who accept to capsize and to plunge into the blurred zones of the soul; there, lie our greatest fragilities - but also our deepest truths. It's a kind of initiatic journey, where light draws unexpected trajectories.
