L’artiste israélien Aharon Gluska se consacre, depuis une dizaine d’année, à la réalisation de paysages vierges, dépeuplés. La précision des traits et le rendu noir et blanc pourraient d’abord laisser penser qu’il s’agit de photographies; pourtant à y regarder de plus près, les vallées n’ont pas une pente naturelle, les différents éléments ne pourraient pas cohabiter ensemble… et il y a cette matière, ce relief, qui vient troubler le regard quand on s’approche.
Loin de la photographie, Aharon Gluska a mis en place un processus unique, lent et physique, qui lui permet de créer des paysages naturels.
Sa fascination pour le chaos organisé des éléments naturels a débuté quand, jeune adulte effectuant son service militaire, il marchait des jours durant dans les montagnes désertiques d’Israël. A plusieurs reprises lors de sa carrière d’artiste, il a tenté de trouvé un système permettant de reproduire, non pas la nature elle même, mais le processus créatif de constitution des éléments naturels (reliefs, matières, etc.). Il y a dix ans, ce désir revient comme une obsession. Il décide de s’inspirer de la nature en travaillant sur l’eau, la terre et le vent, où le geste de l’artiste a une place centrale.Alors, un quatrième élément intervient: le mystère de la création. C’est d’ailleurs ce qui fascine chez l’artiste : la tension constante entre la maîtrise des techniques qu’il a élaborées et la place laissée au hasard, qu’il n’hésite pas à qualifier de magie

For about a decade now, the Israeli artist Aharon Gluska has been dedicating himself to the achievement of unspoiled, empty landscapes. The accuracy of the strokes and black and white rendering might first suggest it is photographs, yet as one looks more closely at his work, the valleys do not have a natural slope, the various elements do not cohabit together... and there is this material, this depth, which disturbs the approaching spectator.
Far away from photography, Aharon Gluska has implemented a single, slow and physical process that allows him to create natural landscapes.
His fascination with the organized chaos of natural elements began during his military service as a young adult. He walked for days in the desert mountains of Israel. On several occasions during his career as an artist, he attempted to found a system to reproduce, not the nature it even, but the creative process of constitution of the natural elements (reliefs, materials, etc.). Ten years ago, this desire became an obsession. He decided to draw inspiration from nature by working on water, Earth and the wind, where the gesture of the artist has a central place. Then, a fourth element intervenes: the mystery of creation. This is what fascinates the artist: the constant tension between the mastery of techniques that he developed and left to chance, where he does not hesitate to call magic
