Ce n'est pas un hasard si Isabel Espinoza trouve dans le papier artisanal, qu'elle réalise elle même, un moyen d'expression.
La façon dont elle appréhende la vie, profondément guidée par une quête de l'essentiel, la rapproche de cette forme ancienne d'artisanat qui devient art entre ses mains.
Le travail d'Isabel Espinoza se caractérise ainsi par une concentration poussée à l'extrême, une intégrité qui se retrouve dans le raffinement des techniques utilisées et une fraicheur qui lui permet de traduire ses idéaux dans des pièces d'une beauté intemporelle.
Cela découle en grande partie du lien de l'artiste avec la Nature, à la fois à travers ses racines et son enfance passée dans une petite ville au milieu de la jungle équatorienne, où sont nées ses permets questionnements, ses premières inquiétudes et où elle retourne fréquemment.
Sa quête la porte également à la recherche d'authenticité et à un travail sur l'identité, entammé notamment dans la ville paraguayenne multi-culturelle et multi ethnique d'Asuncion. C'est au Japon qu'elle fait la synthèse de ses deux aspirations: en résidence à Mino, berceau de la technique traditionnelle du papier japonais - où il a été créé il y a plus de 12 siècles, elle s'imprègne de la technique et du raffinement de cet art ancestral. C'est la naissance de ses grands boucliers de papier (Escudos), qui mêlent techniques orientales, teintes africaines et âme sud-américaine. Ces boucliers transparents ne peuvent pas lutter contre des lances ou des épées, mais ils protègent l'âme de la douleur et de l'effacement des identités.
Dans le même temps, l'artiste peint la série Resonanias Intimas et dévoile la richesse inépuisable de son univers sensible, qui se déploie autour du silence profond du blanc.
Chaque oeuvre est une métaphore, qui participe de la quête de l’artiste d’atteindre une forme de pureté originelle dans ses questionnements métaphysiques. On ne peut donner un sens à un monde qui en est dépourvu qu’à travers des interprétations; Isabel Espinoza propose la sienne et invite les spectateurs à la rejoindre dans la quiétude de ses Mondes Parallèles.

It is no accident that Isabel Espinoza finds a mean of expression in the practice of handmade paper.
Her approach to life is shared with and binds her to this ancient form of handicraft that evolved into art: a quest what is essential.
Espinoza's work is honest, it has an extreme concentration, that finds its correlate in the continuous refining of technical, and a freshness of thought that is translated into the execution of herideals in pieces of ethereal beauty that can clearly be identified as the pillars of her nature.
Much of this is undoubtedly tributary in nature, flowing both from her roots and from her childhood experiences in the small town in the Ecuadorian jungle where she grew up, marked by questions and self-imposed standards that exceeded the environment that she loved, and still does, and where she frequently returns.
Her quest continued in pursuit of the authenticity and identities that are represented in the multi-ethnic Asuncion in Paraguay, achieving then an exquisite synthesis when she delved into the refinement and subtlety of the ancient Japanese paper-making technique in its cradle, the city of Mino, Japan, where it was created over twelve centuries ago.
This resulted in germination of these delicately Oriental shields with African hues and South American soul. These ethereal shields do not protect us from any spears or swords but can be successfully wielded to guard one’s soul against sorrow and blurring.
Meanwhile, the intimate reverberations unveil the inexhaustible wealth of imagery that emerges from a visual reading as the shapes and morphologies appeal to the viewer’s perception and sensitivity from a metaphysical order, captured as the result of a vision stemming from the deep silences of white.
These are metaphors that literally “put before our eyes” the struggle of mankind to achieve the primary purity that enables us to make sense of a world that is devoid of sense other than through our interpretation.
Never ending quest to which Isabel Espinoza’s art, and in particular her queries, provide an invaluable service.
