Rafiy Okefolahan, né le 7 janvier 1979 à Porto Novo (Bénin) et travaillant la moitié du temps en France depuis 2011, est, à l'image de son pays d'origine, empreint d'un syncrétisme religieux, culturel et artistique.
Empruntant à la culture Vodoun la symbolique et les matières (marc de café, sable, pigments bruts, etc), il s'imprègne également de l'actualité et conçoit sa production comme un moyen de mettre de l’ordre dans le chaos du réel, de lutter contre l’oubli, de garder en mémoire.
Aïdo-Hwedo, titre de sa dernière exposition, représente dans la culture vodoun dont le peuple béninois est si puissamment imprégné, le serpent arc-en-ciel, créé par le dieu créateur pour l'aider à soutenir son oeuvre, à faire en sorte que le monde continue de tourner en harmonie. Un symbole d'espoir et de joie.
C'est lui qu'a choisi Rafiy comme référent pour sa nouvelle exposition, produite en ces temps troublés du premier semestre 2020.

Rafiy Okefolahan, born on 7 January 1979 in Porto Novo (Benin) and working half the time in France since 2011, is, like his country of origin, imbued with a religious, cultural and artistic syncretism.
Borrowing from the Vodoun culture the symbolism and the materials (coffee grounds, sand, raw pigments, etc.), he also impregnates himself with the actuality and conceives his production as a means to put order in the chaos of the real, to fight against forgetting, to keep in memory.
Aïdo-Hwedo, the title of his last exhibition, represents in the Vodoun culture of which the people of Benin are so powerfully imbued, the rainbow serpent, created by the creator god to help him support his work, to ensure that the world continues to turn in harmony. A symbol of hope and joy.
It was he who chose Rafiy as the reference for his new exhibition, produced in these troubled times of the first half of 2020.
