Sans aucun collage, Olivier Catté déchire et creuse le carton, pour faire apparaître, en négatif, des citées gigantesques. C'est donc ce travail de destruction, répétitif, obsessionnel, qui produit ces effets de volumes fascinants et contribue à l'élaboration d'une oeuvre de notre temps.

Cette oeuvre fait partie de la série Harmonious Society, fruit de sa résidence en Chine en 2016.

Playing on the roughness and the life behind the cardboard, he applies black streaks of paint in dappled areas, vertically or horizontally; he then rips, cuts and tears off layers, until the corrugated texture hidden within appears. There is not a single collage in his technique: the volume comes in negative, inside the cardboard.

This work belong to Harmonious Society series, a result of his residency in China in 2016.
