Harutyun Avakian (HAROUT) est né en 1976 en Arménie soviétique. Il vit et travaille à Erevan. Après un cursus de 5 ans à l'école des Beaux-Arts Kojoyan, Il intègre le collège national des Beaux-Arts d'Erevan.

Affranchi d’un héritage académique rigoureux depuis l’effondrement de l’Union soviétique, Harout conserve une technique remarquable tout en recherchant une esthétique qui lui est propre. À partir des années 2000, Harout s’interroge sur la place de l’art et le rôle de l’artiste dans la société. Son oeuvre est riche tant dans la diversité des techniques picaturales que dans les sujets - du portrait au paysage..

Harutyun Avakian (HAROUT) was born in 1976 in Soviet Armenia. He lives and works in Yerevan. After completing a five-year program at Kojoyan School of Fine Arts, he enrolled at National College of Fine Arts in Yerevan.

Freed from a strict academic heritage since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Harout has maintained remarkable technical skills while seeking an aesthetic that is uniquely his own. Since the early 2000s, he has been questioning the place of art and the role of the artist in society. His work is rich both in the diversity of pictorial techniques he employs and in subjects — ranging from portraiture to landscape, always used as an allegory of a deeper matter.
